Climate crisis is not a future threat but a current reality. Droughts, floods, fires, storms and rising sea levels already demonstrate the damage we have done to this planet. Tragically, it is often those who have contributed the least to this problem that are being hurt the most.
We honor the Creator by caring for the gift of creation. The planet is not an asset to be consumed but a resource to be tended to and nourished. More than ever before it is clear how our lives and well-being are intimately tied to the health of the planet.
We have created an ecological debt that generations to come will bear the burden of. It is our duty to the future to ensure we respond to this crisis as the global emergency that it is. Wealthy nations have contributed the most to the problem and have the moral duty to contribute to the solutions.
Human flourishing and the flourishing of the earth are one in the same. We must commit ourselves to changing our own lives and habits of consumption while calling on businesses and governments to do the same.
