Hannah McMahan King

Interim Executive Director | hannah@thefaithforward.org

Hannah McMahan King has a history working at the intersection of faith and politics. In 2020, she was the director of the Choose Welcome campaign in North Carolina. This campaign organized evangelical women to advocate for immigration reform.

Previously, McMahan King was the executive director for the New Baptist Covenant, an organization convened by President Jimmy Carter to advance racial justice in and through the Baptist church.  Through her leadership, the organization engaged in grassroots organizing with churches across the country to create multiracial church partnerships built on social justice work. 

McMahan King graduated from Wake Forest in 2006 with a BA in religion, and later from Wake Forest University Divinity School in 2009 with a Masters in Divinity. She also earned a Masters in History in 2012 from the University of Mississippi, where she studied racial-religious violence in the Jim Crow South, and how Christian theology both supported and undermined the lynching culture of the South.

Guy Cecil

Guy Cecil is one of America’s leading political strategists. He is currently Chairman of Priorities USA Action, an independent political action committee working to elect Democrats, fight voter suppression, and increase civic participation among underrepresented communities. He is also President of Miles Strategies. 

Guy has more than 20 years of experience managing high-profile political, non-profit, and issue advocacy campaigns, including having served as Executive Director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Political Director for Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign.

Guy is an active member of Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington, DC, and is a delegate to the Baltimore-Washington Annual Conference. He is active in the work of the United Methodist Church to fully welcome all people, including those in the LGBTQ community. 

Born and raised in Miami, Guy is a former high school teacher and minister. He is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he has served as an adjunct lecturer for the Graduate School of Political Science.

Wes Granberg-Michaelson

Rev. Wesley Granberg-Michaelson serves as Chair of the Board for Sojourners. Known as a global and ecumenical church leader, Wes was General Secretary of the Reformed Church in America for 17 years, helped found Christian Churches Together in the USA, and served as Director of Church and Society for the World Council of Churches. Earlier he worked as a key policy assistant to U.S. Senator Mark O. Hatfield. Wes’ work takes him to all corners of the globe, and he is known as an expert on the radical shift of Christianity to the global South as well as for his work in congregational renewal. Granberg-Michaelson has written seven books and his forthcoming book is Without Oars: Casting Off into a Life of Pilgrimage.

Jyl Hall Smith

Dr. Jyl Hall Smith is an adjunct professor at United Theological Seminary and has worked in advocacy for humanitarian organizations and non-profits for over twenty years.  Collaborated with entities including World Vision, the Congressional Hunger Center, Arianna Huffington, and multiple U.S. Representatives and Senators to drive change in U.S. policy as well as provide development support in various parts of the world.

Fred Davie

Frederick Davie is the Executive Vice President of Union Theological Seminary. In this capacity, Mr. Davie is the institution’s chief administrative officer and serves as an adviser and assistant to the President for the structure and administration of the executive office, strategic planning, institutional advancement, and vision implementation. Fred has an extensive background in philanthropy, including Arcus, Public/Private Ventures and the Ford Foundation. Davie also serves as chair of the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) for the City of New York and was recently appointed by Sen. Charles Schumer to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. A Presbyterian minister, Davie also served on served on President Barack Obama¹s transition team and an appointee to the Obama White House Council on Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

Rev. Eli Valentin

Rev. Eli Valentin is a lecturer at Union Theological Seminary and is a contributing columnist for Gotham Gazette, a premier online publication on New York politics.
He is the editor of Sermons from the Latino/a Pulpit and the author of the forthcoming, Reinhold Niebuhr and Politics. Eli served as a senior pastor for 16 years and has also served as a political adviser to numerous elected officials across the country.

Jill Wildenberg

Jill started working on campaigns in 1972 on George McGovern’s ill-fated presidential campaign, and continues helping campaigns.  In addition to being an elementary school teacher and professional artistI, Jill was the Neighborhood Team Leader for downtown Denver for the Obama 2012 campaign, then worked as Chief of Staff to Colorado State Representative Crisanta Duran (Joint Budget Committee Chair) from 2013 - 2014. In 2016 she led Colorado Faith Leaders for the Clinton campaign, and was also the Co-Captain of House District 5A Democrats. The former Education Director of Congregation Beth Evergreen, Jill led the congregation for 22 years. She was the first  Public Policy Director of the Interfaith Alliance of Colorado and now serves on the boards of Cobalt (Pro Choice Advocates), The Interfaith Alliance of Colorado, J Street Colorado’s Executive Board and now Faith 2020. With a passion for “Tikkun Olam” (Hebrew for repairing the world), she's fulfilling her dreams of making the world a better place for ALL.
